DOMESTIC VIOLENCE UPDATE

Two separate domestic disputes on Sunday ended with a man in Vila-seca, Tarragona, and another in San Fulgencio, Alicante, both shooting their wives dead before committing suicide. In the first case, the body of the 48-year-old woman was found in the Miramar de Vilaseca neighborhood alongside her husband. As of the beginning of August, 33 women had been killed by their partners in Spain this year. In Madrid alone, emergency services have attended 714 cases of gender violence so far in 2009.
